Project: The Impact of Advertisements

Course: ENG-104: College Writing and Rhetoric
​
Assignment Criteria: Write an essay involving the impact of advertisements and gender stereotypes using the film and textbook as resources. The research paper needed to include both a works cited page and an annotated bibliography.
​
Audience: The audience were the professor and students.
​
My Contribution: I spent a couple weeks writing this research paper. I had to watch the film and read the story from the textbook to use a research and support my claims.
​
Publication History: This piece was submitted strictly for class.
​
Reworking of Publications: I revised the assignment after receiving peer-reviews and meeting with the professor during office hours. During my revision, I made sure that each paragraph in my essay followed as such: topic (2-3 lines), example (2-4 lines), and explanation (8-13). This assured that my essay included all the important information needed without any bulky/wordy paragraphs.

Criteria: Create documents with an awareness of "real world" discourse communities.

Project: Letter Proposal (Draft)

Course: ENG-415: Proposal & Grant Writing
​
Assignment Criteria: Write a letter proposal in common letter format for a "real world" organization in need of funding for a specific goal.
​
Audience: The audience will be the funder, the professor, and students.
​
My Contribution: I have spent the entire semester so far working on this letter proposal. I had to find an organization that I wanted to help, interview the client, find a funder, and gather all the information needed to write the proposal.
​
Publication History: This proposal will be submitted to a funder.
​
Reworking of Publications: This is only my rough draft, so I am still currently revising this letter proposal. I need to convert it into more of a letter format, add a distribution plan, and receive a peer-review from my classmates and professor.

Business Paper
Criteria: Mastery of technical and business writing genre.
​
Project: Happiness (and Subjective Well-Being) in the Workplace

Course: MGT-350: Organizational Behavior
​
Assignment Criteria: Select a research topic related to the materials studied in the course. The paper should be 4-6 pages, include a bibliography, and should have at least 4 resources.
​
Audience: The audience was the professor.
​
My Contribution: I spent multiple weeks writing this paper. I had to research factors that contribute to employee well-being such as sexism and unequal pay. I also researched topics such as positive psychology and even used examples from my own experiences in the workplace.
​
Publication History: This piece was submitted strictly for class.
​
Reworking of Publications: I have not revised the paper since submitting it to my professor. However, I would go back and add the annual dates when using APA style referencing.
Document Design
Criteria: Use technical tools available to technical communicators to create documents that are visually effective (InDesign).

Project: Brochure

Course: ETC-340: Design for Tech Communication
​
Assignment Criteria: Create a brochure for a fictional location using InDesign and make the document visually effective by considering color contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity.
​
Audience: The audience was the professor.
​
My Contribution: I worked on this project for about two weeks. On the first week, I posted my draft on the Canvas discussion board to receive any comments/critiques from the professor and other students in the class. I then took the advice to make my brochure better before submitting the final piece on the second week.
​
Publication History: This piece was submitted primarily for class and also listed as one of my projects for my Wix.com website, which was created for the same class.
​
Reworking of Publications: I have not revised the project since submitting it to my professor. However, I would change some of the pictures to better match the locations listed.
Collaborative Project
Criteria: Ability to work in teams to create written projects.

Project: Examination of a Four Day School Week
​
Course: ETC-200: Intro to Tech Communication
​
Assignment Criteria: Collaborate in a group written report regarding a specific issue at Missouri Western State University.
​
Audience: The audience were staff members and students at Missouri Western State University.
​
My Contribution: My group and I worked on this project for several weeks. We had to do extensive research about the topic and conduct interviews and surveys with students and staff members.

Publication History: This piece was submitted strictly for class.
​
Reworking of Publications: Since taking this class, I have taken classes such as Design for Tech Communication, which have taught me more about visual design principles such as color contrast. With this knowledge that I know now, I would go back a make the colors more contrasting and visually effective.
Procedure Manuel
Criteria: Ability to guide users through processes or procedures.
​
Project: Zombie Survival Guide
​
Course: ETC-210: Intro to Digital Humanities
​
Assignment Criteria: Create a guide on preserving one specific artifact during the zombie apocalypse. The guide had to include steps on how to protect the artifact during the apocalypse with links to articles that support these steps. It also had to include information about your survival group's goal, history, team members, and a FAQ page.

Audience: The audience was my professor.
​
My Contribution: I worked on this project for a few weeks. I had to take and edit all the photos for my guide, research to find articles that support my claims, and organize the layout of the website.

Publication History: This piece was submitted strictly for class.
​
Reworking of Publications: I have not revised the project since submitting it to my professor. However, since taking this class, I have taken classes such as Design for Tech Communication, which have taught me more about visual design principles such as repetition. With this knowledge that I know now, I would add more content to some of my pages that are lacking more than others.
